1. Do I need a car?

You will need a car to get to the cottages but, once there, you can manage with a bicycle. Please be sure to wear reflective clothing, even during the day.



2. Where can I hire a bicycle?

4. What is the approximate cost of the utilities?

Electricity is extra at 30cent per unit used, heating oil is €2 per unit used.
Approximate costs vary by cottage. Please contact me for averages.



5. Is there an Internet or Wi-Fi connection?

Yes! All our cottages DO have WiFi!

In addition, most restaurants have free Wi-Fi and there are two Internet cafés in Dingle:

• Dingle Internet Café on Main Street across from An Droichead Beag
• Old Forge Internet Café at Holy Ground across from Garvey’s Supermarket.
• The old library on Green Street has two free terminals.



6. Are there spiders?

NO!! The interior of these cottages is plaster, not stone.



7. Is there a pub or restaurant within walking distance?

The closest pub/restaurant to Dunquin Cottage is Kruger’s Pub, 500 feet

There is a café in the Blasket Heritage Centre, 0.9 miles.
Dun Chaoin Pottery Café (Dunquin pottery) is 1 miles.
Tig Aine in Graigue is 2.2 miles
Tig Ceann Slé (Tigh Slea Head Café) in Coumeenoole is 2 miles.
Stonehouse Restaurant across from Dun Beg Fort on Slea Head Drive is 5.2 miles


The closest restaurant to Suantra and Tig Meaig cottages is Tig Aine at 0.1 miles.

Louis Mulcahy Pottery Café is 0.3 miles.
The café in the Blasket Heritage Centre is 1.4 miles.
Dun Chaoin Pottery Café (Dunquin pottery) is 2.6 miles
Tig Ceann Slé (Tigh Slea Head Café) is 3.2 miles.
Stonehouse Restaurant across from Dun Beg Fort on Slea Head Drive is 7 miles.


The closest pub to Suantra and Tig Meaig is Kruger’s in Dunquin, 1.6 miles.
There are also several pubs in Ballyferriter, 3 miles.

From November through March, many restaurants in this area are only open on weekends.
From April through October, many restaurants are booked to capacity.

8. Where is the closest food/grocery store?

The closest grocer to Dunquin Cottage is in Ventry, 5 miles, or Ballyferriter, 5.3 miles.
These are small stores with mostly local produce, not huge supermarkets.

The closest grocer to Suantra and Tig Meaig cottages is in Ballyferriter, 3 miles.

The closest supermarket is in Dingle. There is also an organic food store in Dingle, Ré Nua.



9. How far is the beach?

The beach closest to Dunquin cottage is Coumeenoole, 2.1 miles;
==>swimming NOT recommended as there are strong currents offshore.
Clogher Beach is 3 miles away; NOT safe for swimming due to dangerous waves and currents.
Ventry Beach, 4.2 miles from Dunquin, is SAFE for swimming and other activities.

The beach closest to Suantra and Tig Meag is Clogher Beach, 0.5 miles;
==>NOT safe for swimming due to dangerous currents.
Coomeenoole is 3.5 miles; swimming NOT recommended as there are strong currents offshore.
Beal Ban Beach at Smerwick Harbour, 4 miles, is SAFE for swimming and other water sports.



10. Where is the closest place to hear music?

Kruger’s Pub is closest to Dunquin cottage, 500 feet away

Kruger’s Pub is also closest to Suantra and Tig Meag cottages, 1.2 miles away
Tigh Bhric (Tig Bric) in Ballyferriter is 3 miles away.
If you do not have a car, please do as we do and hire a cab to visit the pubs at night.

Guided Tours and other unique activities (in-cottage music and catering) can be arranged.
